Africa is one of the world’s seven continents. It is the world’s second largest continent and has the second most population (coming after Asia in both categories). Covering 30,370,000km2 (11,730,000mi2), Africa makes up 6% of the total area and 20.4% of the total land area. Also with 1,022,234,000 people is also account for almost 15% of the world’s population.
Focused around the equator and surrounded by both 2 seas (Mediterranean and Red) and 2 Oceans (Indian and Atlantic), Africa is a central part to the world map. It is made up of 54 countries with a wide range of diverse cultural backgrounds and it is also widely regarded by scientists as the place credited with the origins of human beings.
From its roots it has become a fantastic place with fantastic people, vivid wildlife and fascinating cultural diversity. Due to its fine weather conditions it is fast becoming a tourist haven with many people choosing to explore the wildlife and vivid cultures.
