Overlanding With Nomad/ Whichway » Frequently Asked Questions
Following are a few most frequently asked questions.

Who Should We Go On an Overland Expedition?
Nomad/ Whichway 's overland expeditions are off the beaten track and aimed at the more adventurous and budget-conscious (added bonus!) traveller. This is a journey for people who embrace life with passion, who care about culture, people and wildlife.
Why Should We Choose the Nomad/ Whichway Adventure Company?
The Nomad/ Whichway Adventure Company has a proven track record of providing quality itineraries and adventure programs and Whichway has been in the overland safari business for 13 years.
It has always done its very best to avoid the tourist tracks and thrives on exposing its travellers to the road less travelled. The overland guides are selected because of their love for everything African, and for their ability to communicate, interact and share this passion with you.
Careful consideration has been taken in planning and operating these itineraries to avoid offering travellers what any other tourist to these destinations would encounter. The Nomad/ Whichway Adventure Company welcomes many previous travellers back to Africa and dares first timers to face the adventure with them!
What Should I Expect?
Nomad/ Which Way 's aim is to offer each and every adventurer (first time or repeat traveller), a unique and exciting visit every time. After all, this is unexpected Africa! The three words to capture your experience will be adventure, adrenalin and extraordinary!
Are These Overland Expeditions Environmentally Friendly?
Of course! Nomad/ Which Way strives to keep the surrounding environment and all it holds as pure and natural as possible. Its staff take pride in the knowledge of the local fauna and flora and being able to share this knowledge with others ensures that the environment in each destination visited, is left intact for future visitors to appreciate and enjoy.
To aid the growing awareness of our dwindling wildlife, Nomad/ Which Way, as an Adventure Company and concerned with the environment, has pledged a portion of the funds for each tour sold to the Endangered Wildlife Trust. In this way, it is able to continue watching visitors fall under the spell of this magic land.
Are The Guides Experienced?
Nomad/ Which Way 's aim is to offer each and every adventurer (first time or repeat traveller), a unique and exciting visit every time. After all, this is unexpected Africa! The three words to capture your experience will be adventure, adrenalin, extraordinary!
What Equipment Is Used?

Large dome tents will be provided, which are shared by two people and have built-in ground sheets and mosquito netting. You may be in Africa, but this will not be a completely savage tour. Camping chairs, tables and cooler boxes will be provided.
If required, sleeping bags can be hired. Contact our office or email us for more details.

Are The Vehicles Reliable?
Nomad/ Which Way 's vehicles are custom built to suit their purpose of overland expedition. All of the trucks have Mercedes Benz diesel engines, providing more than ample power to get out of any situation. What would an adventure trip be if it were smooth going all the time? So whether you're up to your elbows in mud rescuing your sinking truck or searching for the only bush in the desert to squat behind - expect the unexpected!
What Is Included In The Price?
All transport in standard or custom built vehicles, services of a registered field guide/driver, tents and camping equipment, three meals a day, camping fees, park and entrance fees except where specified, excursions stated in itineraries. The experience and adventure are all on the house!
What Is Tour Fare and Local Fare?
The full tour price is made up of the tour fare, payable prior to departure in South African Rand, as well as a local payment, which is paid to the guides on departure of the tour. Most of the expeditions require that the local payment be paid in US$ cash. Please note that the local payment is not a food kitty. Contact our office or email us for more details. All camp meals are included in the cost. The local payment is collected to cover the park fees and excursions (normally charged in US$) that has been included into the tour cost. By keeping these charges in US$ any unnecessary surcharges can be avoided due to exchange rate fluctuations.
What Activities Can I Expect?
Overland tours are all jam-packed with adventure, after all this is unexpected Africa.
Africa is filled with adventure and you are the only one to blame should you return home after a visit to this area and not have taken advantage of the many options available to keep the adrenalin levels pumping. For a broader list, please see the Activities Pages.
What Visas Do I Have To Obtain In Advance?
As visa requirements vary considerably, please contact the various embassies or a visa service agent for the visa requirements. Please note though that visas are the responsibility of the traveller, and should be applied for in good time. Please make 100% sure that you are in possession of the relevant visas, as The Nomad/ Whichway Adventure Company will not be held responsible should you be denied access to any country.
You must be in possession of a valid onward/return air ticket or proof of other means of transport enabling you to leave the country in which your overland expedition ends.
