Kisoro district is located in the South Western corner of Uganda and borders with Rukungiri district to the North, Kabale district to the East, Rwanda to the South and the Democratic Republic of Congo to the West. It is a mountainous district which lies at an approximate altitude of 1,981 m above sea level. The economy of the district is one of the less developed in the country. The main economic activity is agriculture and the majority of the people are engaged in small scale subsistence farming.
