Your adventure begins as you travel north towards the Orange River that borders South Africa and Nambia. You have the option of going on a relaxing canoe trip before continuing northwards to explore some of Namibia's spectacular scenery and fascinating sights. From the Fish River Canyon to bushman art in the Kalahari, this is a geography and history lesson rolled into one. The 2nd part of your trip takes you to the seaside resort town of Swakopmund, the wild and rugged Skeleton Coast and the game-rich Etosha National Park.

| Day 1: South Africa - Cederberg Region |
 |
You depart Cape Town, heading north for the Cederberg mountain region. These sandstone and shale mountains are famous for their spectacular rock formations. On this first afternoon you spend some time getting to know your fellow travellers and learning about tour life. |

| Day 2: Namibia - Gariep River |
 |
You travel north through Namaqualand, towards the Gariep River. Namaqualand is big sky country and this vast semi-arid region comes alive in spring when millions of colourful wild flowers cover the countryside. The night is spent sitting around the campfire.
It is quite a long drive up to the Gariep River. There will be a short stop in the town of Springbok for some shopping and possibly banking (there is an ATM here). |

| Day 3: Gariep River/ Ai-Ais |
 |
In the morning you have the opportunity to explore the Gariep River by canoe. The Gariep, which is the Nama name for the Orange River, flows through some of the richest succulent regions in the world. Choose between a relaxing morning on the riverbank or a half-day canoe adventure. After lunch you travel north to the Ai-Ais Hot Springs. |

| Day 4: Fish River Canyon |
 |
After an early breakfast your journey takes you to the mighty Fish River Canyon, the 2nd largest canyon in the world and an area of impressive natural beauty. After marvelling at the canyon you travel further inland to the Kalahari area of Namibia. En route you visit the Kokerboom 'quiver tree' Forest which consist of hundreds of giant aloes. |

| Day 5: Bushman/ Namib Naukluft NP |
 |
This morning those who wish to spend some time with the !Kung, will have the chance to do so. The !Kung people are hunter gatherers who have a remarkable knowledge of this semi-arid region in which they live. This activity is a local community project and all fees are payable directly to the community. Later you drive west towards Sossusvlei and enter the Namib region. The oldest and most unique desert in the world, the central Namib stretches over 2,000km along the coast. |

| Day 6: Namib Naukluft National Park |
 |
Taking advantage of the cooler temperatures you depart at dawn and drive into the Namib-Naukluft National Park where you hike up Dune 45 to gain a different perspective of the desert. After this you have the option of hiking with fellow group members into Sossusvlei, a beautiful remote region of huge ochre-coloured sand dunes. |

| Days 7-8: Swakopmund |
 |
A dramatic drive through the arid Namib-Naukluft sees you arrive at Walvis Bay, where you make a stop to hopefully view the large flocks of flamingos. En-route to Walvis Bay you stop at the Kuiseb pass to view its dramatic geology (also known as the Moon Landscapes) and go through the Guab pass, which is the point at which you cross the Tropic of Capricorn.
Then it's on to the seaside resort town of Swakopmund. The afternoon and following day is free for you to spend in pursuit of adrenaline, enjoying some of the many adventure activities available. Alternatively you may choose to do some shopping in town or head for the beach.
Dinner is not included in Swakopmund. Should you wish to go to dinner as a group at a local restaurant, the guides can book this in advance. After the meal you can go out to one of the local clubs. If you do, one of the guides will go with you. |

| Day 9: Himba Tribes |
 |
Heading inland again you drive north towards Outjo, where you meet some of the local people of the area. The Himba are semi-nomadic pastoralists who are easily recognisable by their unique style of dress. Their hair, clothes and jewellery all form an important part of their tradition and culture.
Please have respect for the people that you are going to visit. Keep in mind that they have a different culture, and that behavior you deem as normal might be offensive to them, and vice versa. |

| Days 10-11: Etosha National Park |
 |
An early rise sees you on your way to Etosha National Park, home to over 340 bird, 110 reptile and 100 mammal species including close to 3 000 elephant and one of the biggest populations of black rhino in Africa. You spend your days visiting the abundant waterholes which offer excellent opportunities for game photography. After your evening meal you can relax at the floodlit waterholes.
Notes: Occasionally it is not possible to stay inside the park at night, in which case you overnight at a local guest farm. In summer the temperatures are high - around 38C, which some people find uncomfortably hot. |

| Day 12: Windhoek - Tour Ends |
 |
After an early morning game drive you set off for Windhoek, the capital of Namibia. On the way you will stop at a local craft market for some shopping. Your tour ends today, but a lot of groups like to go out for supper to say final goodbyes. An evening meal at Joe's Beer House (own expense) gives you the chance to try many different types of game meat. Vegetarians are also well catered for and the interesting décor and vibrant atmosphere make it well worth a visit. |
