Take part in this incredible volunteer overland adventure and give a little of your time back to the earth.

Start in Cape Town and head to Oudtshoorn for a visit to an ostrich farm and the famous Cango Caves, before assisting a local Rastafarian community in Knysna with youth training and the maintenance of the community centre.

Day 1: Wine tasting in Oudtshoorn

Depart from Cape Town with your guide en route to Oudtshoorn, known as the ostrich feather capital of the world. Stop at one of the many famous wine farms dotted along the way to sample some of South Africa's fine wines.

Take a tour of an ostrich farm (optional) and after lunch travel along the longest wine route in the world - Route 62 - before arriving at your first camp.

Day 2: Exploring the Cango Caves

Have an early breakfast before heading to the legendary Cango Caves for a guided tour of this incredible natural phenomenon. The caves have been known to man since the Early Stone Age and they remain South Africa's oldest tourist attraction.

After lunch travel to the picturesque town of Knysna, located on the coast of the Garden Route and the site of your first volunteer project.

Days 3-4: Helping Rastafarians in Knysna

Over the next 2 days assist the local Rastafarian community of Knysna: give of your time at the local orphanage or help with the upkeep of the Khayaletu River Trail.

This rewarding experience will allow you to meet the locals and make some new friends. You'll participate in more than one aspect of this energetic community upliftment project.

Day 5: Bungee in the Tsitsikamma Forest

On day 5 visit to the Tsitsikamma Forest and get your adrenaline pumping with the world's highest bungee jump of 216m (optional).

Alternatively, go mountain biking, horse riding, tree-top zip-lining or on wonderful hikes through the forest.

The Tsitsikamma is one of South Africa's most famous natural heritage areas and many who visit there choose to walk the first few kilometres of the famed Otter Trail.

Day 6: Hiking in Hogsback

Day 6 begins with a long but scenic drive from Tsitsikamma to Hogsback with lunch en route. Arrive in the late afternoon in time for a lovely hike in the Amatola Mountains.

[p]The town of Hogsback lies on the slopes of the Amatola and is known for its enchanted countryside and indigenous forests.

Days 7-9: Lending a Hand at Lusikisiki

The area of Lusikisiki is one of the least developed areas in the Eastern Cape and where you'll be giving of your time and energy over the next 3 days.

Assist with building and providing necessary infrastructure such as the production of leather sandals, after which you'll get to keep the pair that you've helped make.

Days 10-11: Driving in the Drakensberg

Leave Lusikisiki on day 10 and take a fairly long drive to the Drakensberg in KwaZulu Natal where you can spend the rest of the day and the following unwinding amid magnificent mountain ranges.

Those who want to can take a day trip into neighbouring Lesotho, or go mountain biking, hiking, rock climbing or horse riding (all optional).

Day 12: Repairing Dongas in Amphitheatre Project

Today enthusiasm and a zest for life are what's needed as you help return the land to a more sustainable condition. Do this by erecting fences to keep livestock out of sensitive areas, filling gullies and reintroducing vegetation for the Amphitheatre Donga Reclamation Project.

A donga is a large hole gouged out of land by water and erosion. This is caused by over-intensive land usage that's depleted the area of imperative vegetation.

Day 13: Browsing Markets in Durban

Arrive in Durban - one of South Africa's largest cities situated on the Indian Ocean coastline - and browse around one of the many vibrant local markets where you can bargain for some traditionally handmade arts and crafts.

The evening brings the opportunity for a fantastic meal at one of Durban's superb restaurants and checking out the cities' buzzing nightlife.

Day 14: Cruising Along the Isimangaliso Lagoon

Leave Durban today and drive north towards Isimangaliso (Greater St Lucia) Wetland Park, where you can go on a leisurely boat cruise on the lagoon and admire the natural beauty surrounding you.

Isimangaliso is one of South Africa's most famous World Heritage Sites and as such has become the most historically and ecologically diverse park in Southern Africa.

Day 15: Viewing Game in Hluhluwe-Imfolozi

Rise early and take a morning game drive as the sun rises over the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi National Park. Observe some of Africa's most amazing wildlife and members of the Big 5 in the oldest game reserve in South Africa.

After the game drive it's off to Swaziland - the smallest country in the Southern Hemisphere boasting some of the best game reserves in southern Africa.

Day 16: Spend Time with Shewula Women

Today help the Swazi women of Shewula with their craft and perma-culture projects and in the evening prepare an authentic Swazi meal for everyone.

[p]The Shewula community are friendly agricultural people who've faced the threat of HIV/Aids and several projects are being undertaken to assist them.

Days 17-18: Getting Close to Chimps

The Jane Goodall Project for Chimpanzees is where you'll devote your time and energy over the next day and a half. Scientifically monitor the behaviour patterns of the chimps living here and act as a support team for the full-time rehabilitation staff.

Chimpanzee Eden is a home to chimps that have been misplaced from their natural habitat.

Days 19-20: Animal Encounters in the Kruger

Take a break from volunteering and head for the legendary Kruger National Park for some excellent game spotting. The Kruger is home to all the Big 5 members as well as many other remarkable creatures.

On a night drive you could also spot a honey badger or porcupine - some of the less well-known inhabitants of the park that only come out after dark.

Days 21-22: Research Lejuma's Fauna & Flora

Depart from Kruger after an early morning bushwalk and head for the Soutpansberg in the Limpopo Province.

Travel along the Panorama Route on your way to Lejuma and view the exceptional God's Window, Bourke's Luck Potholes and Blyde River Canyon - one of the most spectacular canyons in Africa.

Get involved with the Lejuma Environmental Research Project by compiling research data about the various species of fauna and flora in the area, in order to aide in the compilation of global warming research.

Day 23: Dinner in Johannesburg

Your final day of the tour sees you travelling south to Gauteng province where your tour ends in Johannesburg in the late afternoon. Tuck into a delectable meal at one of Johannesburg's many top-class restaurants (optional).

Gold was first discovered in Johannesburg in March 1886 on the Witwatersrand by George Harrison, hence the name "Egoli" or "City of Gold".
