Day 1: Enter Hell's Gate

Depart the bustling city of Nairobi and head north to Lake Naivasha. You spend the day at Hell's Gate National Park - a compact reserve known for its diverse wildlife and striking scenery.

Activities here include hiking and mountain biking and a variety of animals and birds can be viewed from the walking and cycling trails.

If you prefer, you can enjoy high-tea at nearby Elsamere - the former home of Joy Adams, best known for her autobiographical novel, 'Born Free'.

Days 2-3: Search for the 'Big 5' in the Masai Mara

The Masai Mara is famous for the Great Migration but game viewing here is spectacular all year round.

The immense plains of the Mara are home to a vast array of animals and birds, including giraffe, cheetah, hyena and all of the 'Big 5'.

In addition to fantastic game viewing, a stay at the Mara provides the opportunity to meet a local Maasai community and learn about their culture – the perfect way to round off your experience.

Day 4: Admire Lake Nakuru's Flamingos

Following one last game drive in the Mara, you head further inland toward Lake Nakuru National Park.

Lake Nakuru is famous for its flamingos, and when the conditions are right between 1 and 2 million lesser and great flamingo descend on the lake in a startling wave of pink feathers. They settle here to feed along the lake shore in the company of tens of thousands of other birds, creating one of the most extraordinary sights in Africa.

But Lake Nakuru's fantastic birdlife certainly isn't its only drawcard. The park is a haven for wildlife of all sorts, including warthog, antelope, black and white rhino and the distinctive Rothschild giraffe.

Day 5: Explore Nairobi

Return to Nairobi and spend some time exploring this cosmopolitan city. Visit its vibrant markets and historical churches, mosques and temples; passing through both dusty shanty towns and leafy suburbs along the way.

Do some more game viewing at the Nairobi National Park and feed a baby elephant at the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, or sit down to a meal in one of the city's many restaurants and cafes.

Your tour ends just before noon, leaving you free to enjoy more sightseeing or continue with your onward arrangements.
