Following one last game drive in the Mara, you head further inland toward Lake Nakuru National Park.
Lake Nakuru is famous for its flamingos, and when the conditions are right between 1 and 2 million lesser and great flamingo descend on the lake in a startling wave of pink feathers. They settle here to feed along the lake shore in the company of tens of thousands of other birds, creating one of the most extraordinary sights in Africa.
But Lake Nakuru's fantastic birdlife certainly isn't its only drawcard. The park is a haven for wildlife of all sorts, including warthog, antelope, black and white rhino and the distinctive Rothschild giraffe. |
