Take in the sounds and smells of the real Africa as you depart the hustle and bustle of Nairobi, stopping at all the amazing sights and experiences on offer while steadily heading south.

Day 1: Head for Arusha

You leave Nairobi early and cross the border for Tanzania, arriving at your camp outside Arusha. You settle into camp and get to know each other and the vehicle.

Days 2-3: View Wildlife in the Serengeti

There are many options available in the Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater regions. Choose the activity which best matches your interests and budget, from a quick one-day safari, to an incredible three-day trip.

For those not going to the parks, you can use this opportunity to absorb some of the fascinating local culture.

Days 4-5: Make Your Way to Dar es Salaam

Getting together again after your various game viewing activities, you spend the evening exchanging wildlife spotting stories around the campfire. Those who chose the Serengeti excursion normally return late in the afternoon.

Dinner will be for your own account on Day 4.

On Day 5 you drive south towards the Indian Ocean, and the historical port city of Dar es Salaam.

Days 6-8: Relax in Sun in Zanzibar

A transfer by ferry takes you to Zanzibar where you will spend the next few days exploring this fascinating island with its renowned architecture, beautiful beaches, colourful history and wonderful food.

The excursion is at your own expense so, once again, your interests and budget can determine your accommodation, activities and level of luxury on the magical spice Island.

Enjoy a spice tour, dolphin tour, scuba diving and snorkelling in this island paradise.

Breakfast on Day 6 only.

Days 9-10: Journey to Iringa

Today you leave Zanzibar and catch a late ferry (or flight) back to Dar es Salaam and return to your campsite.

Early the next day you head away from the coast, and take the climbing road into the mountains to your next camp near Iringa. Lunch and dinner will be for your own account on Day 10.

Days 11-14: Experience Lake Malawi

You make the border crossing out of Tanzania. Today's destination is the northern part of Lake Malawi, close to the Livingstonia Mountains, where you will relax for the next 2 days.

You can take a stroll through the nearby craft market with the friendly people of Malawi or a hike into the mountains if the weather is favourable. You continue a short way further along the central part of the lake. For the more adventurous, there are endless leisure and water sport activities. Alternatively, soak up the atmosphere and relax in one of the most scenic holiday destinations in Africa. The evenings are spent beside its tranquil waters.

A variety of exciting optional activities are available, including scuba diving, parasailing, windsurfing, fishing, canoeing and horse riding.

Day 15: Spend a Night in Luwawa Forest

You head for the Luwawa Forest, above the Great Rift Valley. This region is known for its indigenous forest and magnificent scenery. A hike through the forest may reward you with a glimpse of some of its secretive wildlife.

Days 16-17: Explore the South Luangwa

You drive from Luwawa Forest to the South Luangwa National Park where you will spend two nights on the banks of the river.

The second day is put aside for activities, you can choose between a morning or night game drive and a guided game walk accompanied by a professional local guide. If the South Luangwa National Park is not for you, you can relax by the pool.

On occasion in the rainy season, it is impossible or inadvisable to attempt to reach South Luangwa National Park. If this happens, then an alternative itinerary will be chosen.

Day 18: Walk Along the Luangwa River

You sadly leave the wonderful South Luangwa National Park to spend some relaxing time in a remote part of Zambia. This is an interesting area full of friendly locals, and a walk along the river is a rewarding experience.

Day 19: Travel to Lusaka

Your journey towards the bustling Zambian capital of Lusaka takes you along an interesting route. If you arrive early enough you can explore the local markets, a great activity. You spend the evening relaxing after your long drive.

Days 20-21: End Your Journey at Victoria Falls

Arriving at your destination of Livingstone, you have enough time to visit the Falls. The popular optional sunset cruise includes dinner and drinks.

[p]Most people spend the second day in Livingstone white water rafting, a not-to-be-missed experience of a lifetime. If that idea doesn't thrill you, Victoria Falls offers many equally exciting alternatives, including white-water rafting on the Zambezi, bungee jumping over the gorge, and helicopter and microlight flights over the Falls.

The last evening in Livingstone can be spent together as a group at a local restaurant, recounting your tour experiences and adventures.

Lunch only on Day 20.
